Nickel Influences Urease Activity and Calcium Distribution in Tomato Fruits

In this study, we aimed to shed light on the effects of Ni–Ca interaction activity urease enzyme and incidence blossom end rot (BER) in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruits. Therefore, Micro-Tom plants were grown under different levels Ni (0.0 1.0 mg dm–3) Ca2+ (0.35 0.70 g dm–3), both alone combination. Increased yields activity, as well inhibition BER, observed for fruits with Ni, even low Ca availability dm–3). addition, a microprobe X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy characterization distal part revealed sharp decrease content that present BER symptoms.
